Ride for Justice is coming through

By Kaitlyn Naples Staff Writer On the last Sunday of the month, between 900 and 1,200 motorcycles are expected to drive from Bristol, through Burlington, Harwinton, Terryville, Wolcott, Plantsville, and Cheshire, for the fourth annual Ride for Justice. This annual ride, which brings out close to 3,000 people every year, benefits the Petit Family Foundation, which continues the memories of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, Hayley Elizabeth Petit, and Michaela Rose Petit, who were murdered in a horrific home invasion in 2007. All of the proceeds from the ride go towards the foundation so it can achieve its mission of “fostering the education of young people, especially women in the sciences; to improve the lives of those affected by chronic illnesses, and to support efforts to protect and help those affected by violence while continuously honoring the precious lives of Jennifer, Hayley and Michaela.” Ron Catucci, chairman of the Ride for Justice, began this event four years ago, and said it benefits a cause that is close to him. “They follow their mission statement, and they do a very good thing,” Catucci said, adding that recently the foundation hit the $1 million mark of its total donations to various causes.
